Knitting is good for you!

Or, so I tell myself. There are lots of documented benefits, like... eh... reduced arthritis symptoms??? Okay there may be lots of documented health benefits from hand crafts such as knitting, but I am not so certain that this isn't as unhealthy as it is healthy.

For example, so far this year, I have missed sleep, given myself carpel tunnel syndrome (although that could be the work I do as well) put on some unspecified amount of weight from sitting too long, and trained my daughter to say, "when you have finished your knitting will you...".

Way to ignore your child for yarn, dude.

But, look on the bright side, I have knit up a couple shawls, and a pair of socks since January 1st!

Year of the Sheep

This year I am furiously knitting. One might even say prodigiously or frenetically, I mean, I started Christmas knitting in April! It can be said that one can never start too early knitting Christmas presents, and I think I am still on track to complete all planned projects.

So lets see, so far I have knit...

Four pairs of socks, plus another pair of knee highs finally finished after languishing in the UFO pile for five plus years, making FIVE pairs of socks.

One sweater, which I will have to go back and fix, arms and body are TOO LONG, so maybe this is another UFO.

Four shawls, two of them are really just shawlettes, but one was pretty lacy so it almost counts at a full blown shawl, right?

One blanket. Yes a blanket, and by the way a blanket has as much knitting as a sweater, large shawl, or a bazillion socks.

AND

Things I still think I have time to knit...

Two pairs of mittens, okay this sounds easy, but both are complicated stranded color work patterns, on fingering, so just as time consuming as socks.  I do have one pair half finished, but it has become frustrating.

Two or maybe three pairs of socks.  I promised my daughter a pair, so I should finally knit them up!

Two shawls, both of which are just garter stitch, so I should be able to knock them out in two seconds, flat. No problem.

Okay, lets recap. I have knit a bunch of junk, and I want to knit a bunch more. I keep telling myself that its therapeutic, and that this is the Chinese Year of the Sheep, so of course I have to! But, if I am going to be honest, I think I have been bit by the "obsessive bug".

I also don't idle well, as my partner says. While he is napping, I am knitting.

While he is dreaming, I am scheming.
